The MAXM Skate Recovery Program supports patients to recover better, and faster, from knee surgery and injuries.
It motivates and engages patients through real-time range of motion data, pain and progress tracking, as well as an expertly engineered Skate device with integrated sensor.
Patients can also expect to;
- have a structured recovery program that’s optimised to turbocharge your recovery
- be in control of their progress and advance their own rehabilitation quickly
- be able to share their rehabilitation data with their surgeon and healthcare team
What is the MAXM recovery program?
The MAXM Skate Knee Recovery Program is an innovative and unique solution to the global problem of stiff and sore knees after surgery and injury. It was developed by leading orthopaedic surgeon Dr Matthew Liptak more than 10 years ago to improve patient outcomes. The program is powered by the MAXM Skate device with integrated bluetooth sensor, typically 4-6 weeks long, and involves 3 daily exercises using the MAXM Skate to track your range of motion via the MAXM Skate App.
It is most commonly used for people recovering from knee surgery like total knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy and meniscus repair, as well as recovery from other knee injuries and trauma.
The program is evidence-based and our 2020 Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) showed significant improvements in post-operative outcomes such as range of motion compared to standard care.
If you’re looking for an example 12-week program to recover from a total knee replacement you can see this on MAXMs website here.
What’s included?
The Skate should feel snug and comfortable when you’re wearing it. It should hug the foot (not feel loose). You can wear it over shoes, socks or barefoot – whatever is most comfortable for you.
What can I expect each day?
Every day, when you open up the MAXM App you’ll see your exercises with video guides to complete, and a log of your progress to date. Plus, we’ll send you handy nudges to help keep you on track.
How many sessions do I need to complete each day? And how long is each one?
The MAXM Skate Recovery Program has education and exercises to complete. You’ll complete 2 x 10-15 min exercises sessions via the MAXM Skate App each day. When completed, you’ll see a green tick.
The MAXM Skate Recovery Program fuels and complements your broader rehabilitation program that may have been prescribed by your physiotherapist, surgeon or rehabilitation specialist.
How does MAXM guide me on my pain levels?
MAXM Skate encourages patients to maintain their relationship with their surgeon and physiotherapy team along the way. They’ll be able to guide you with your pain level by using MAXM Skate as a tool of trade.
Our innovative MAXM Skate App allows you to record and track your pain levels, giving you and your care team confidence you are recovering safely and efficiently.
Effective pain management to ensure you can maintain good range of motion and progression of your exercises is important.
How do I recharge the sensor?
If you notice a red blinking light on your sensor it means the battery is running low. You can easily recharge it with the included USB-C.
How do I pair the sensor with the MAXM Skate App?
Make sure you have the app installed and mobile Bluetooth turned on. Then, turn on the sensor and simply open your MAXM App and the Bluetooth connection will occur automatically. You’ll notice the Bluetooth blue light on the sensor will go from blinking to a full blue light once it is paired.
